Smaller, lighter TAWS

Add TAWS without adding an LRU if the TCAS 2000 is already part of your safety avionics package. This solution will provide aircraft operators with lower cost of ownership without having to allow for additional space and weight.

The TCAS 2000 is unchanged from the existing ARINC-735A characteristic in terms of operational characteristics and I/O interfaces. The TAWS function uses connector pins that are currently unused by the TCAS.

Simply Safer

The TēCAS™ safety avionics system combines actual aircraft climb performance-based Terrain Awareness Warning System (TAWS) capabilities into the TCAS 2000 line-replaceable unit (LRU). TēCAS is the only TAWS to provide avoidance alerts based on actual aircraft performance data, virtually eliminating nuisance warnings. Our system provides avoidance alerts based on the aircraft's actual ability to climb, not based on standard climb rates and an assumption that all critical functions are performing properly.

Along with optional Windshear and GPS, the system provides a powerful combination of functionality. Performance-based TēCAS can be applied to any air transport, regional, business or military aircraft to avoid Controlled Flight Into Terrain (CFIT), which gives operators more time to clear terrain and traffic with an increased margin to maneuver.

TēCAS meets and exceeds all the terrain safety features required by the TAWS TSO-C151a and Windshear C117a standards.

Features

The TēCAS terrain and traffic collision avoidance system combines the industry-leading TCAS 2000 with Thales’ 30 years of expertise in high performance terrain-avoidance systems.

  • Advanced and reliable ground hazard warning and caution.
  • Alert computation according to instantaneous aircraft climb performance.
  • Eliminates nuisance warnings.

    Basic modes:

  • Modes 1 and 2 (back-up mode)
  • Modes 3, 4 and 5
  • Callouts and bank angle modes
  • Airborne windshear warning system (option)
  • Nav quality GPS (option)
  • Situational Terrain Display
  • Hazard and alerting areas

    Database

  • Compact Flash Card
  • Worldwide terrain coverage
  • Airport database
  • Obstacle database (option)

    Certifications

  • TAWS TSO-C151b, Class A
  • GPS TSO-C129a, Class B1/C1
  • Windshear TSO-C117a
  • TCAS TSO-C119b
TAWS & TCAS in One Unit: ACSS integrates TAWS functionality into the TCAS 2000, allowing operators to combine TAWS and TCAS in a single LRU. The Compact Flash Card slot allows for easy loading of terrain and airport databases and operational software.
