| T²CAS® SELECTED BY CHINA SICHUAN - Chinese Airline Chooses Combined TCAS/TAWS Solution from ACSS for new Airbus Aircraft - First Sale of T²CAS Into Emerging China Market Contact: PHOENIX, March 23, 2006 – ACSS, an L-3 Communications & Thales Company, announced today that China Sichuan has selected T²CAS for installation on eight new Airbus aircraft. China Sichuan ordered a combination of Airbus A319s and A320s that are scheduled to begin delivering later this year. This is the first China-based carrier to select the combined terrain and traffic avoidance system from ACSS. “We’re pleased with how well the aviation community has responded to T²CAS as a superior solution for terrain and traffic avoidance,” said ACSS President Kris Ganase. “China Sichuan’s selection has opened an emerging market to us and they’ll appreciate the heightened levels of safety as a result.” T²CAS is being proposed to airlines as a supplier furnished equipment (SFE) option on all Airbus long range, single aisle and widebody aircraft. This includes A300-600, A310, A318, A319, A320, A321, A330 and A340 models. It is also available as a retrofit solution for existing Airbus aircraft (A300-600, A310, A318, A319, A320, A321, A330 and A340 models). T²CAS has also been selected as a retrofit product for many Boeing aircraft types, ATR 42s/72s and some military aircraft. More than 1,500 units of T²CAS have been ordered since the initial product launch. The growing list of T²CAS customers includes Aero California, Aeromexico, Air Asia, Air Atlanta Icelandic, Air Berlin, Air Cariabas, Air Europa, Air Mauritius, Air Niki, Air One, Air Wisconsin, Allegiant Air, American Eagle, AVITEX, Bangkok Airways, China Sichuan, CIT Group, CMC, ComLux, Debis Air, Druk Air, EAT, Estafetta, Etihad, Excell Airways, Falcon Air, Federal Express, German Wings, Gulf Air, Harmony, Hawker Pacific, Icelandic, Independence Air, Islandsflug, Mesaba, NAS, Northwest Airlines, Norwegian Air Shuttle, ONUR Air, QATAR, Raytheon, Royal Brunei, Royal Flight Oman, Silk Air, Sky Airlines, Sukhoi, Swift Aviation, TAROM, TG Aviation, the U.S. Air Force, Virgin Express, and the U.S. Customs Service. T²CAS is a unique safety avionics product that combines a performance-based terrain awareness warning system (TAWS) with the industry’s leading traffic alert and collision avoidance system, the TCAS 2000. The system provides a powerful combination of functionalities that result in space, wiring, weight and power savings. T²CAS is a performance-based system that can be applied to any business, regional, air transport or military aircraft to avoid Controlled Flight Into Terrain (CFIT), which gives operators more time to clear terrain and traffic with an increased margin to maneuver and reduce nuisance alerts. Among the patented features is a Terrain Advisory Line (TAL) that indicates where the terrain is should the aircraft continue on its current flight path. The length and duration of the alert line mirrors the cautionary terrain segment within 30 degrees either side of the aircraft flight path, out to four minutes in front of the aircraft. When the TAWS portion of the T²CAS computer detects that the aircraft does not have sufficient climb capability to clear the terrain by a standard vertical recovery maneuver, it generates a unique identifiable “Avoid Terrain” aural-visual alert. Aviation Communication & Surveillance Systems (ACSS), an L-3 Communications & Thales Company, is a leader in safety avionics systems that increase safety, situational awareness and efficiency for aircraft operators. Based in Phoenix, its products include the TCAS 3000 and TCAS 2000 traffic alert and collision avoidance systems; MASS™, an enhanced TCAS for military operations; a family of Mode S transponders; the T²CAS®, a combined traffic and terrain collision avoidance system; TAWS+, a stand-alone terrain awareness warning system; and the Dlink+ communications management unit. The ACSS portfolio also includes a suite of automatic dependent surveillance-broadcast solutions for pilots operating in the airport vicinity called SafeRoute™. More than 45,000 units of ACSS product are operating in commercial, corporate and military aircraft. To learn more about ACSS, please visit the company's web site at www.acssonboard.com.
