ACSS TEAMS WITH ASTRONAUTICS TO DEVELOP CDTI SOFTWARE
CDTI enables display of SafeRoute in cockpit Contact: Steve Henden Manager, Communications ACSS, an L-3 Communications & Thales Company 623-445-7021 ORLANDO, October 17, 2006 –ACSS, an L-3 Communications & Thales Company, announced today that they will partner with Astronautics Corporation of America to develop Cockpit Display of Traffic Information (CDTI) software. The software will enable operators to display ACSS’s new SafeRoute system. The first application of SafeRoute will be on UPS aircraft beginning in mid 2007. The CDTI will be hosted on the Astronautics Class 3 Electronic Flight Bag display system for the UPS fleet. “We’re excited about teaming with Astronautics on this venture,” said Kris Ganase, president of ACSS. “Astronautics is a proven leader in the area of aircraft display technology, and the software they develop for us will allow all aircraft types to take advantage of the safety and efficiency benefits of our SafeRoute product.” SafeRoute is a set of automatic dependent surveillance (ADS-B) software solutions that address a number of safety and efficiency issues facing aircraft operators, including runway incursions through its Surface Area Movement Management (SAMM) function, and approach sequencing through its Merging & Spacing function. The CDTI will enable display of ADS-B traffic information on any aircraft platform that hosts SafeRoute. “SafeRoute is an excellent solution for addressing the growing issues related to runway incursions and approach sequencing,” said Dan Wade, Director Business Development from Astronautics. “Being part of an emerging product and technology will allow Astronautics to continue its growth as the ACSS SafeRoute product rolls out to the rest of the industry. The SafeRoute application will be offered throughout our Class 3 EFB and EFIS product lines, as well as in conjunction with other system solutions.” Astronautics, established in 1959, is a major avionics supplier headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Astronautics product lines include Electronic Flight Instrument Systems, Electronic Flight Bag displays and Airborne Network Server Computers, Navigation Systems, Flight Instruments, Mission & Display Systems, Multifunction Color Displays, Engine Displays, Flight Director Computers and Control Systems, and Air Data Computers.
